- The Pembroke Mixed Volleyball League was founded in 1984 by Brian Hugli. The first year saw only 4 teams. Since that time, the league has grown to include 24 teams playing on 3 different courts.
- League games are held on Sunday nights at Bishop Smith Catholic High School in Pembroke, ON.
- A six person mixed format is used (3 female, 3 male).
-There are 3 divisions: a Competitive 'A' division, a Competitive/Recreational 'B' division, and a Recreational 'C' division.
- League play begins mid-September and runs until late April or early May.
- A 'best-of-5' game format is used.
- Sets 1-4 are played to 25 points (win by 2, no cap)
- Set 5 is played to 15 (win by 2, no cap)
- Games begin at 4:00, 5:30, 7:00 and 8:30 PM.
- Results of matches are released to a variety of local media.
- During the 2009-10 season, 23 teams participated in the league (seven teams in "A" division, and eight teams in both the "B" and "C" divisions). Teams and players generally come from Pembroke, Petawawa, Deep River, Renfrew, Chapeau and the surrounding areas.
- A twenty to twenty-five game schedule runs from October to March/April each year.
- Approximately 240 participants are involved with the league on a regular basis.
- Tournaments -- The league sponsors one league tournament each year -- a Sno-Spree Tournament in conjunction with Pembroke's Winter Carnival that is open to any team.
- New teams are welcome each year by contacting an existing team or member of the Executive to find out when the organizational meeting will be held (usually mid-September).
